ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company and Honeywell’s UOP Form Strategic Alliance

Alliance to jointly market and license lube and fuel production technologies

FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (EMRE) and Honeywell’s UOP have formed a joint marketing and licensing alliance to deliver a comprehensive suite of lube and advanced fuels hydroprocessing and engineering capabilities to companies in the refining sector.

The effort aligns EMRE's hydroprocessing technology for producing base oils for use in motor oil with UOP’s hydroprocessing solutions that produce high-quality feedstocks, resulting in high yields of premium quality lubricants. The alliance will also offer EMRE's fuels dewaxing technologies which, used in conjunction with UOP hydroprocessing solutions, produce high yields of ultra-low sulfur diesel with excellent cetane and low temperature flow properties.

“This alliance will offer a host of optimized solutions to fuels and lubes refining customers by combining the complementary hydroprocessing technologies of both EMRE and UOP in one comprehensive package,” said EMRE President T. J. Wojnar.

As part of the alliance, EMRE and UOP will provide an integrated process design solution for the licensed technologies with a single engineering package to licensees. EMRE offerings covered by the agreement include hydrocracking and other hydroprocessing solutions for fuels and lubes, such as Mobil Selective DeWaxing (“MSDW”) for lubes, and Mobil Isomerization DeWaxing (“MIDW”) for fuels. The alliance is limited to marketing, licensing, engineering package delivery and providing catalysts for fuels and lubricants hydroprocessing opportunities.
