ExxonMobil Foundation Funds Summer Jobs Program to Aid Dallas Area Nonprofit Agencies

  • Grants awarded to 30 local nonprofit agencies to employ talented college students
  • Agencies accepting applications from college students for summer intern positions
  • Positions help students enhance job skills while helping community

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The ExxonMobil Foundation today identified the 30 Dallas County nonprofit agencies that will receive grants through the 2015 ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program, now in its 25th year in Dallas. The eight-week summer program provides assistance to nonprofit agencies and enables college students to gain valuable work experience and a better understanding of the important role of nonprofit organizations.

“Nonprofit agencies provide vital community services, especially during the summer when children are out of school,” said Suzanne McCarron, president of the ExxonMobil Foundation. “The Community Summer Jobs Program helps agencies realize their mission and fosters college students’ appreciation for the nonprofit sector while offering them opportunities to develop their skills.”

Paid internship positions engage students in a broad range of activities, such as coordinating camp programs for underprivileged children and developing marketing campaigns. In addition to daily internship duties, students receive professional development and participate in a group service project. Qualified college students interested in gaining hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector are encouraged to apply.

To be eligible, applicants must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student returning to college as a full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) sophomore, junior or senior in the fall of 2015. Qualified applicants may contact the selected agencies, listed below, to request applications and learn more about available opportunities, or visit csjpdallas.org.

Since 1990, the ExxonMobil Foundation has contributed more than $4 million to the program in Dallas, supporting more than 1,500 internships at nearly 400 agencies.

Since the program began in 1971 in New York City, the ExxonMobil Foundation has provided more than $19.4 million to support close to 8,000 community summer job internships.
