Larry R. Faulkner Elected to ExxonMobil Board

IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) today announced that its board of directors has elected Larry R. Faulkner to the board. Dr. Faulkner is the president of Houston Endowment Inc., a private philanthropy, and president emeritus of the University of Texas at Austin.

With Dr. Faulkner's election, the ExxonMobil board stands at thirteen directors, eleven of whom are non-employee directors.

In his distinguished academic career, Dr. Faulkner served on the chemistry faculties of Harvard University, the University of Illinois, and the University of Texas. At Illinois he was also head of the Department of Chemistry, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs.

In 1998, he returned to the University of Texas at Austin as the 27th president, and served into 2006. Dr. Faulkner became president of Houston Endowment Inc. on February 1, 2006.

He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and currently serves as chair of the National Mathematics Advisory Panel by designation of the President and the Secretary of Education. He also serves on the boards of Temple-Inland and Guaranty Financial Group.

Dr. Faulkner obtained his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 1969 and a B.S. degree from Southern Methodist University in 1966.
